Lift the barriers
to healthy communication.

Do you ever struggle in talking with your teen about decision-making, reproductive health, relationships and risk taking?
If so, LiFT (Linking Families and Teens) can help.
LiFT is a day-long program for teens (ages 13-19) and their parent/caregiver to help with those difficult but important conversations. LiFT aims to support parent and child communication, promote healthy adolescent sexual development, and reduce risk-taking behavior.
Our Mission
To empower families and teenagers in New Britain by:
- Fostering Open Communication: This program aims to create a safe and supportive environment where teenagers feel comfortable discussing their thoughts, feelings, and experiences with their parents or other responsible adults. This open communication channel can help build stronger relationships, increase trust, and prevent misunderstandings.
- Empowering Healthy Choices and Goal Achievement: This program provides resources, guidance, and support to help teenagers make informed decisions about their health, education, and future. It may involve workshops, mentorship programs, or access to information on topics like substance abuse, mental health, career exploration, and financial literacy. By providing the necessary tools and support, this program empowers teenagers to make healthy choices and achieve their personal and academic goals.
- Building a Supportive Community for Parenting Adults: This program recognizes the challenges and stresses that parenting adults face in today's world. It aims to connect parents and other responsible adults in the community through events, workshops, and support groups. These platforms allow parents to share experiences, learn from each other, and find support from fellow community members who understand their unique challenges. This can help reduce feelings of isolation and provide valuable resources and coping strategies for parenting adults.
By addressing these key areas, this program can have a significant positive impact on the lives of teenagers and their families within the community.
